Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has revealed that his club always knew Victor Osimhen’s €75 million transfer fee from Napoli was a bargain, describing the Nigerian as ‘a very elite striker,’ Footynaija.com reports.

The 26-year-old joined the Turkish champions permanently this summer after a successful loan spell, turning down interest from several Saudi Pro League and Premier League sides.

Despite prolonged negotiations, Napoli agreed to sell their prized asset only after Galatasaray guaranteed full payment of the €75 million fee, a record deal both for the club and for Turkish football.

At the time, many critics viewed the move as financially excessive. But a few months later, the decision looks inspired.

Osimhen has exploded into form, scoring twice and playing a huge part in the other in Galatasaray’s 3–1 victory over Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League. The performance followed his decisive goal against Liverpool on Matchday Two.

After the encounter, Buruk was quick to point out that the club’s faith in Osimhen is being justified.

“Osimhen is a very elite striker,” the Galatasaray boss said at the post-match press conference.

“We had said that the 75 million euros paid for him was very normal, even low. His current performance is in line with this. Hopefully, he will continue in the same way.”

Osimhen has been in blistering form on the continent for Galatasaray. His latest brace makes it nine goals in his last seven European games for the Turkish champions.
