Galatasaray have taken a significant step in their pursuit of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen after club officials met with Napoli representatives in Italy to iron out the finer details of a permanent transfer, Footynaija.com reports.
The Turkish champions, eager to retain Osimhen following his prolific loan spell, have reportedly agreed to meet the €75m release clause set in the striker’s Napoli contract — a clause that remains valid for foreign clubs until mid-July.
However, Galatasaray have requested to pay the amount in five instalments, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com.
Vice-President Abdullah Kavukcu, alongside intermediary George Gardi, led Galatasaray’s delegation in Wednesday’s negotiations.
Speaking briefly after the meeting, Gardi commented: “We’re working on it. There is a desire, evidently. Let’s see how it goes.”

Osimhen enjoyed a sensational 2024–25 campaign in Istanbul, where he netted 37 goals and supplied eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His impact on the pitch has left Galatasaray with no doubts about securing his services permanently.
Footage from renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio captured the Galatasaray contingent departing the meeting in Italy, underlining the seriousness of their intent.
Although Napoli previously rejected offers in the region of €60m, the latest proposal matches the player’s official release clause. However, Napoli are now demanding formal guarantees — including surety bonds — to secure the deal’s financial integrity.
With the window still open and interest high, Galatasaray remain determined to finalise a transfer that could become one of the most expensive in Turkish football history.
