Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman is not a player of serious interest to Premier League side Arsenal despite recent speculations linking the Super Eagles star with a summer move to the North London side, Footynaija.com understands.

Lookman is set to depart Atalanta this summer after enjoying and outstanding career in the Bergamo-based Serie A side. Since joining from RB Leipzig back in 2022, the 27-year-old’s output has only gotten better with each passing season.

The Nigeria international’s next move is generating a lot of talk with recent speculations suggesting that he could complete a summer swap to the Premier League with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal touted as a potential destination.

However, Italian transfer guru Matteo Moretto has poured cold water on the Lookman-Arsenal talks. Moretto believes the Gunners have a standard when it comes to recruitment, a standard that Lookman does not meet.

What Moretto said about Lookman

” Lookman is a name that we will definitely talk about in view of the next transfer market because Lookman will leave Atalanta 99.9%,” Moretto said in quotes revealed by Area Napoli.

“In the last few hours the rumor has come out that Lookman could end up at Arsenal. I tell you that to date I don’t know if he is due to his characteristics but above all due to his age, because Arsenal in any case have a certain type of standard also in terms of the age of the players to buy.”

Moretto further revealed that while Lookman had in truth been offered to the Gunners, the North Londoners did not take particular interest. In fact, the teams that have shown the most interest remains Atalanta’s Serie rivals Juventus and Napoli.

“I don’t think Lookman is the first or even the second choice for Arsenal in that position. It’s true that he was offered to Arsenal so Lookman has certainly been (offered to many teams in Europe, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid but to date the teams most interested are two Italian ones: Juventus which I’ve already told you about and Napoli.”

Lookman enjoyed the most prolific campaign of his professional career this season with 26 goals contributions (20G, 6A) to his name. Certainly, he’ll be sealing a move to one of Europe’s top sides this summer.
