Victor Osimhen and Barış Alper Yılmaz reportedly clashed in the Galatasaray dressing room during half-time of their UEFA Champions League meeting with Lille, Footynaija reports.
Galatasaray recovered from a 2-2 first-half draw to beat the French side 4-2 away from home on match-week three of the competition, securing their first points of the league phase.
According to Turkish newspaper Sözcü via GZT, the half-time bust-up followed growing frustration between the two attackers during the opening 45 minutes.
Osimhen was reportedly unhappy with the running support he received from Barış Alper, believing the winger was not making the movements he expected in attack. The Nigerian striker expressed his anger with gestures on the pitch before criticising his teammate.
Barış Alper reportedly responded by questioning Osimhen’s decision to shoot in situations where he believed a pass would have been the better option. The disagreement continued after the players returned to the dressing room.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk appeared unfazed by the confrontation, describing the exchange as a sign of the players’ competitive spirit.
“A pleasant sound came from the locker room. They argued amongst themselves, evaluating the situations. I find that argument amusing because the players are reacting,” Buruk said.
Osimhen also attracted attention with his post-match comments, defending his ability in front of goal.
“Nobody can teach me how to play with the ball or how to score goals because I am one of the best strikers in the world,” the 27-year-old said.
The Nigerian forward has scored seven goals and provided three assists across all competitions for Galatasaray this season.
