Ademola Lookman finally brought an end to his six-game Serie A goal drought with a well-taken strike in Atalanta’s commanding 4-0 win over Monza on Sunday afternoon, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles forward, who had not found the net in league outings against Inter, Fiorentina, Lazio, Bologna, Milan, and Lecce, delivered when it mattered — scoring Atalanta’s third of the afternoon as the Bergamo side tightened their grip on a top-four finish.

Lookman’s moment came early in the second half. Latching onto a smart layoff from Mateo Retegui, the 27-year-old showed trademark composure, slotting the ball past the Monza keeper with a confident finish. It was his first league goal since March 9, when he scored against Juventus.

The strike took his season tally to an impressive 19 goals and seven assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, reaffirming his importance to Gian Piero Gasperini’s Europa League-winning side.

Lookman’s return to form is timely for Atalanta, who remain firmly in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification. With just a handful of games left, every goal counts.

His resurgence will also be welcomed by Nigeria’s national team boss Eric Chelle, who is preparing for the upcoming Unity Cup in London this June, ahead of the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualifiers resuming in September.

A confident Lookman firing on all cylinders could prove vital for both club and country in the decisive weeks ahead.
