History was made in Ikenne on Sunday as Olamilekan Adedayo’s late heroics fired Remo Stars to their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, breaking a 25-year-old record for clubs from the South West region, Footynaija.com reports.

Remo Stars faced Niger Tornadoes in what turned out to be a nerve-wracking encounter. Knowing a win would seal the title, the Sky Blue Stars pushed hard but found the Tornadoes’ defence tough to crack.

And just when the match seemed destined for a frustrating draw, Olamilekan Adedayo rose to the occasion, smashing home the winner in the 84th minute to spark wild celebrations across the Remo Stars Stadium.

Olamilekan Adedayo’s strike did not just deliver another three points, it was the goal that ended the South West’s 25-year wait for an NPFL crown, with Julius Berger in 2000 being the last club from the region to achieve it.

Under the leadership of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, Remo Stars have been simply outstanding this season. They have picked up 68 points from 35 matches, winning 21, drawing 5, and losing 9.

For Olamilekan Adedayo, this goal has catapulted him into instant club folklore. His late winner did not only gift Remo Stars their first league title, it cemented his name in Nigerian football history, joining a special list of players who delivered titles with defining moments.

Fans flooded the pitch after the final whistle, waving banners, singing, and praising the team’s historic achievement. The atmosphere was electric, with many old supporters moved to tears seeing their beloved club finally conquer Nigeria’s top flight.

Olamilekan Adedayo’s magical moment will forever be remembered as the night Remo Stars rewrote history, inspiring a new generation of champions in Ikenne and across South West Nigeria.
