Galatasaray have addressed mounting speculation surrounding Victor Osimhen’s future, following comments interpreted by many as a farewell message after the Nigerian striker’s latest performance, Footynaija.com reports.

The 26-year-old, currently on a season-long loan from Napoli, has enjoyed a sensational campaign in Turkey, firing Galatasaray to the cusp of another Super Lig title.

Osimhen scored his 21st league goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Samsunspor at the weekend, taking his overall tally to 29 goals and 6 assists in 33 matches across all competitions.

However, post-match comments made by the Super Eagles forward sparked rumours of an imminent departure.

“We will see at the end of the season about transfers, but despite everything, Galatasaray will forever be in my heart,” Osimhen said.

His words were interpreted by sections of the international press as a goodbye message, prompting a response from Galatasaray.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu clarified the club’s stance.

“His words do not mean that he will leave,” Hatipoğlu explained as per NTVSpor.

“He said that even in the worst-case scenario, Galatasaray will always be in his heart if he leaves. But he did not say that he would leave.”

Hatipoğlu added, “We want him to stay with us.”

Osimhen’s future remains the subject of intense speculation, with European heavyweights such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Juventus all reportedly interested in securing his signature this summer.

Despite the financial hurdles, Galatasaray are believed to be exploring creative ways to make the deal permanent, hoping the player’s bond with the club can tip the balance in their favour.
