Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance for Galatasaray, scoring twice to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing emphatically into the top corner after a long ball from Davinson Sánchez was expertly laid off by Baris Alper Yilmaz.

Galatasaray then doubled their lead shortly after when Filip Kostic handled inside the box, allowing Osimhen to calmly slot home the resulting penalty.

Fenerbahçe, who had dominated the group stage with a perfect record, responded just before the break.

Brazilian playmaker Anderson Talisca unselfishly set up Sebastian Szymański, who stretched to turn the ball into the net and give Mourinho’s side a glimmer of hope.

Despite controlling possession in the second half, Fenerbahçe struggled to break down Galatasaray’s disciplined backline. Tempers flared in the closing stages, with Kerem Demirbay, Baris Alper Yilmaz, and Mert Hakan Yandaş all receiving red cards after a touchline altercation.

Galatasaray held firm to seal victory over their fierce rivals, booking a semi-final showdown with Konyaspor on April 22.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahçe must now turn their attention back to the league, where they remain in pursuit of their first Turkish title in 11 years.
