Super-Eagles eligible defender Tosin Adarabioyo believes Enzo Maresca’s young Chelsea squad can go on to achieve great things, following their return to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Soccernet.football reports.

In a night for Chelsea’s unlikely goalscorers, Tosin got himself on the scoresheet with his first Premier League goal in the iconic Blue strip to help the Blues seal a comfortable win at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The Blues had not secured a league victory since their narrow win against Brentford on December 15, over a month ago, going five games without maximum points against Everton, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth respectively.

Speaking to NBC Sports after the victory in west London, Tosin touched on how important it was for Chelsea to get the first goal of the game.

“Definitely, something we set out to do. Come out and try and get an early goal to take the lead,” he said.

The 27-year-old center back happens to be one of the more experienced and older players in Maresca’s Chelsea squad, with the average age of the squad standing at 23.9 (the youngest in the division).

Asked whether he felt an extra sense of responsibility working with so many young players, Tosin replied; “Yeah, yeah definitely. I like to lead the boys and lead the team and try and get everyone focused and push the team to get good results.

“This team is super exciting. We’ve got amazing players in every single position, all young players.

“Me being only 27 years myself, which is still very young for a center-half in the Premier League and we’re definitely going to grow, we’re going to push on and achieve great things together.”
