The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been completed in Morocco, with Nigeria placed in Group C, Soccernet.football reports.

Joining the Super Eagles in Group C are former champions Tunisia, as well as Uganda and Tanzania, in what promises to be an exciting group.

The draws for the five other groups were also finalized. Hosts Morocco headline Group A alongside Mali, Zambia, and Comoros. The tournament’s opening match will see Morocco face Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on December 21, 2025.

Group B has been tagged the ‘Group of Death,’ featuring two former champions, Egypt and South Africa, along with in-form Angola and Zimbabwe.

In Group D, 2021 champions Senegal will battle two-time winners DR Congo, Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic, and Botswana.

Group E pits Algeria against Burkina Faso, Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea, while defending champions Côte d’Ivoire face a tough challenge in Group F, which includes eternal rivals Cameroon, Gabon, and Madagascar.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, also known as AFCON 2025 or CAN 2025, is the 35th edition of the biennial tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Morocco will host the competition for the second time, having last staged it in 1988.
