Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew has expressed his joy after scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner to help Leicester City secure a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, Soccernet.football reports.

Leicester were 2-0 down by halftime, with goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo putting the Saints firmly in control at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Archer opened the scoring in the 8th minute, finishing off Ryan Manning’s pinpoint cross.

Aribo doubled Southampton’s lead in the 28th minute with a well-timed strike from a Kyle Walker-Peters delivery.

The Foxes were visibly frustrated and appeared out of the contest, with their travelling supporters voicing their discontent.

However, Leicester showed incredible resolve in the second half, largely inspired by substitute Abdul Fatawu, who turned the game around with his impressive performance.

Fatawu’s dangerous cross allowed Facundo Buonanotte to tap in from close range, bringing Leicester back into the match.

Moments later, Fatawu struck the crossbar and forced a superb save from Aaron Ramsdale, leading to a chaotic sequence in the box. As Jamie Vardy tried to convert the rebound, he was fouled by Southampton substitute Ryan Fraser, who was sent off. Vardy calmly slotted the resulting penalty to level the score.

With Southampton reduced to 10 men, Ayew completed the remarkable turnaround, netting a decisive goal seven minutes into stoppage time, sending Leicester fans into ecstasy.

Speaking after the match, Ayew told SkySports via BBC, “It’s just unbelievable, that’s why we play football. We didn’t have a good first half. Second half, we got ourselves back together and attacked the game properly. It’s just an unbelievable feeling.”

Ayew also praised Fatawu’s impact, saying, “We know his pace, his quality. He’s been fantastic since he came in, even last season. He’s still young, but what he did today, he needs to keep up.”

Leicester’s win marks their second consecutive victory, boosting confidence in their bid to climb the Premier League table. Ayew concluded, “It should give us confidence, belief that we can do it. We will keep working hard and hopefully get more wins.”
