The hearing for Manchester City’s 115 charges of financial regulation breaches is scheduled to commence on Monday, September 16, Soccernet.football reports.

The Premier League champions are accused of 80 breaches of financial regulations between 2009 and 2018, along with an additional 35 charges for failing to cooperate with a Premier League investigation.

The Cityzens strongly deny all allegations and have not yet commented on the latest developments in the case. If found guilty of some or all charges, City could face a significant points deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League.

City was first charged in February 2023, but the extended preparation for the trial has caused delays, sparking frustration among rival fans, especially as both Everton and Nottingham Forest faced sanctions for their financial breaches within just a few weeks.

According to The Times, the trial was originally slated to start in November. However, in an effort to reach a resolution before 2025, it has been moved up by two months. The hearing is expected to last for ten weeks.

City have consistently denied any wrongdoing and have pledged to provide evidence to clear their name, having previously overturned a European ban from UEFA in 2020 for broader financial breaches.

“We welcome the opportunity for an independent commission to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of our position.

“As such, we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all,” the club said in a statement.
