Real Madrid are poised to make history as they prepare to face Atalanta in the upcoming UEFA Super Cup final, fresh off their US pre-season tour, Soccernet.football reports.

This match presents a prime opportunity for the club to secure their first trophy of the season, adding to their already impressive collection.

A win would not only set a positive tone for the campaign ahead but also place Carlo Ancelotti on the brink of club history. A victory would see Ancelotti match the legendary Miguel Munoz’s record of 14 titles as Real Madrid’s head coach, further cementing his legacy at the club.

Real Madrid’s focus is not just on the immediate prize but also on their place in the history books.

Should the Spanish champions emerge victorious on Wednesday, they would surpass both FC Barcelona and AC Milan, becoming the team with the most UEFA Super Cup titles, with six trophies to their name.

This would not only give them bragging rights over their long-standing rivals, Barcelona but also elevate them to a new level of European dominance.

Additionally, a win would propel Ancelotti into the record books as the most successful manager in the competition’s history, surpassing Pep Guardiola with a fifth UEFA Super Cup title.

Ancelotti is expected to rely on the core group of players who secured the Champions League title last season. While newcomers like Endrick and Kylian Mbappe have drawn significant attention, they may not feature in the starting lineup as the manager emphasizes stability and experience.

“You have to take into account those players who won the Champions League,” Ancelotti recently stated, highlighting his commitment to continuity.

With Toni Kroos and Nacho Fernandez having departed over the summer, Eder Militao and Luka Modric, who impressed during the US tour, are expected to step in and fill those crucial roles.
