Kylian Mbappe’s seven-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from 2017 to 2024 cemented his status as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

As he bids farewell to Paris and embraces life in Madrid, Soccernet.football’s Imhons Erons cast the flashlight on the most memorable moments that defined his illustrious career in the French capital.

1. Record-breaking transfer and debut goal
Mbappe’s journey at PSG began with a bang on 31 August 2017. The club secured his services from Monaco on loan with a mandatory purchase option for a staggering €180 million, making him the most expensive teenager ever.

He quickly justified the fee by scoring on his debut in a 5-1 victory over Metz.

2. Youngest player to reach 10 Champions League goals
Just over three months after joining PSG, Mbappe scored his tenth career Champions League goal in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, becoming the youngest player to reach that milestone at 18 years and 11 months.

By that point, very few critics were left in Europe who doubted that PSG had acquired a phenomenon destined for the top of the game.

3. Four goals in 13 minutes
Mbappe made history on 8 October 2018, scoring four goals in just 13 minutes during a 5-0 rout of Lyon.

At 19 years and 9 months, he became the youngest player in 45 seasons to net four goals in a single Ligue 1 match. A terrible nightmare for defenders in the French top flight.

4. Champions League hat-trick against Barcelona
In a stunning individual display, Mbappe scored a hat-trick against Barcelona in a 4-1 win at Camp Nou on 16 February 2021. It remains one of the worst nights in Barcelona’s history caused almost entirely by a single individual.

That incredible performance made Mbappe only the third player to achieve such a feat against the Spanish giants in the Champions League.

5. First PSG player to score five goals in a match
On 23 January 2023, Mbappe became the first PSG player to score five goals in a single match, achieving this remarkable feat in a 7-0 thrashing of Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France. PSG fans could not stop applauding their phenomenon and they probably wished he would stay in Paris forever.

6. Youngest player to reach 100 Ligue 1 goals for PSG
On 12 December 2021, Mbappe scored his 100th Ligue 1 goal for PSG at just 22 years and 357 days old. This achievement not only highlighted his rapid rise but also his critical role in PSG’s domestic success.

7. Becoming PSG’s all-time leading scorer
Mbappe surpassed Edinson Cavani to become PSG’s all-time leading scorer on 26 February 2023.

After showing incredibly consistent goalscoring form, Mbappe netted his 201st goal for PSG in a 4-2 win over Nantes to hit that significant milestone in his career.

8. First player to finish as Ligue 1 top scorer and assist provider
The 2021-22 season saw Mbappe make history by becoming the first player to finish as both the top scorer and top assist provider in Ligue 1.

The France international smashed in a league-high 28 goals and added an unmatched 17 assists to complete one of the most remarkable all-around attacking displays in recent times.

9. Crucial goals in Champions League knockout stages
Mbappe’s knack for scoring crucial goals was on full display during the 2023-24 Champions League season.

He bagged a brace against Real Sociedad in the round of 16 and two goals against Barcelona in the quarter-finals propelled PSG to the semi-finals.

10. Final match and emotional farewell
Mbappe’s final game for PSG on 25 May 2024, in the Coupe de France final against Lyon, was a fitting end to his storied spell at the club.

His performance helped secure a 2-0 victory and his last title with the club. His emotional farewell to the PSG fans marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter at Real Madrid.
