Nigeria’s U20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have arrived in Abidjan ahead of two friendly matches against Ivory Coast’s Young Elephants as part of their preparations for the upcoming CAF U20 tournament, Footynaija.com reports.

The matches will be played on Wednesday and Friday at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny, with both fixtures set to kick off at 3:30 PM Ivorian time (4:30 PM Nigeria time).

Aliyu Zubairu’s side booked their place in the CAF U20 tournament after successfully defending their WAFU Zone B title in Togo last year. Despite losing to Burkina Faso in the group stage, the Flying Eagles bounced back to win the competition, defeating Ghana 2-1 in the final.

Head coach Zubairu has named a strong 21-man squad for the friendlies, led by team captain Daniel Bameyi. The squad also includes first-choice goalkeeper Ifeanyi Harcourt, as well as key players Haruna Aliyu, Cletus Simon, Clinton Japhet, and Olalekan Sulaiman Alabi.

These fixtures will serve as a key test for the Flying Eagles as they fine-tune their squad for the continental championship.
