Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva has issued a stern warning to any players joining the team this summer, Soccernet.football reports.

The club is expected to be active in the transfer market as they look to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad for another Premier League title challenge.

Pep Guardiola-tutored Man City held off the challenge of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to become league champions for the fourth time in a row.

Reports suggest City will focus on bolstering their midfield due to uncertainties over several key players’ futures. However, integrating into the Manchester City squad can be tough, and Silva has highlighted what new arrivals must do to succeed.

After City’s record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title, Silva praised the team’s recruitment process and sent a clear message to prospective signings.

“I think the way this team is built, the way they choose and sign players, they know that if everyone works hard, we’re a step closer to winning (trophies),” Silva told Man City official website.

“(As) senior players, we need to make sure that the new players feel the same way that I felt when I came to the Club.”

He added, “When Fernandinho, Vinny Kompany, David Silva, Aguero, they made sure that I gave my all, we’ve got to make sure that the new players feel the same way, in this team it’s unacceptable to not work hard and to not give 100% and that’s what we do every game.”

Despite his comments, Silva himself might leave Manchester City this summer. The Portugal international has been linked with Barcelona, though the Spanish club’s financial issues could complicate any potential move.
