Plymouth Argyle have suffered a major setback with Super Eagles striker Owen Oseni facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering another injury blow, Footynaija.com reports.
Oseni could be out until the end of November after picking up an ankle injury during Plymouth’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace Under-21s in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy on September 22.
The 23-year-old had to exit the field of play after just 33 minutes, with the latest setback coming shortly after he had returned from a thigh injury suffered towards the end of pre-season.
Oseni already had two substitute appearances in League One earlier in September after recovering from that problem, but his return to action will unfortunately suffer further delay following this latest setback.
Plymouth head coach Tom Cleverley revealed that the striker’s latest injury requires extra recovery time because it affects an ankle he has previously injured.

“Because it’s an ankle he’s injured in the past the specialist has advised we take a little bit more time to make sure that ankle heals and is as stable as it can be,” Cleverley told BBC Radio.
The setback is particularly frustrating for Oseni after he enjoyed an impressive first season with Plymouth, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances following his move from Scottish side St Mirren.
Cleverley also expressed his disappointment for the Nigeria international, admitting that his season has yet to properly get going.
“I’m disappointed for him because his season’s not got going,” the Plymouth boss added.

Oseni’s injury will also be of interest to the Super Eagles after he made his senior Nigeria debut earlier this year.
The striker became the first Irish-born player to represent Nigeria at senior level when he came off the bench against Zimbabwe in the 2026 Unity Cup before also featuring in the final against Jamaica.
With Oseni now facing another period on the sidelines, Plymouth will hope the forward can make a full recovery and return before the end of November.
