Super Eagles striker Owen Oseni has suffered an injury setback at a difficult time for Plymouth Argyle, with the forward now facing several weeks on the sidelines, Footynaija.com reports.
Oseni has become an important part of Plymouth’s attacking plans since joining the club from St Mirren in June 2025. The striker signed a three-year contract after making his name with Gateshead, where his goals and physical qualities earned him a move into the professional game.
Plymouth identified his pace, strength and power as qualities that could suit Cleverley’s style.

The 23-year-old also reached another important stage in his career earlier this year when he made his Super Eagles debut in May.
That call-up came after a productive season with Plymouth, where he showed that he could offer more than a physical presence in the final third.
Oseni finished the 2025/26 campaign with 10 goals for Argyle, including a strong spell towards the end of the season. He scored in the 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town in March before producing an even bigger performance against Barnsley in April, scoring twice and setting up another goal in a 3-0 victory.
That form made his latest setback particularly frustrating for Plymouth. The club already have several attacking players unavailable, leaving Cleverley with fewer options as he prepares his side for the demands of the new season.
Oseni injury leaves Plymouth looking for another attacker
As confirmed by BBC Sport, Oseni missed Monday night’s Carabao Cup first-round victory over Exeter City after suffering a thigh problem, and further tests have now provided an indication of how long Plymouth could be without him.
Scans showed an injury expected to keep the Nigerian forward out for around three to four weeks. That means Plymouth will have to manage the opening weeks of the campaign without a striker who has already shown that he can contribute goals as well as physical work up front.
Cleverley has admitted that the situation could force Plymouth back into the transfer market. The Argyle boss said the club will work hard to strengthen the attack, although he has not decided whether the priority should be another centre-forward or a wide player.
