The Super Eagles have started preparations for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, with coach Eric Chelle and his players gathering in Akwa Ibom, Footynaija reports.
Nigeria’s training camp officially opened in Ikot Ekpene on Monday, September 21, as the coaching staff arrived ahead of two important Group L matches.
The first training session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, giving Chelle his first chance to work with the players on the pitch before the qualifiers begin.

The opening 15 minutes of the session will be open to journalists, allowing the media to watch part of the team’s preparations.
Nigeria’s first qualifying match will be against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25.
The Super Eagles will then travel to Guinea-Bissau for their second Group L game on September 29.
Chelle and his staff have limited time to prepare the team, making the training sessions important as Nigeria look to start the qualifying campaign strongly.
The players will also meet the media on Wednesday at the team’s base in Ikot Ekpene. The session will give journalists an opportunity to speak directly with members of the squad ahead of the Madagascar match.
Nigeria, three-time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations, are seeking another place at the continental tournament when the 2027 qualifiers begin.
With the camp now open, attention has turned to Chelle’s plans for the first two matches and how his players will respond to the demands of a new qualifying campaign.
