Saudi Arabian side Al Diriyah are not ready to walk away from Wilfred Ndidi despite Besiktas turning down their first attempt to sign the Super Eagles captain, Footynaija reports.
According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Al Diriyah are planning a bigger offer for the Nigerian midfielder before the summer transfer window closes. Their first bid of €7 million, worth about N11 billion, was rejected by Besiktas.
The Saudi club see Ndidi as a player who can add strength, experience and leadership to their midfield. That interest has grown after the 29-year-old showed once again why he remains an important player for Besiktas.
Ndidi recently returned from injury and came off the bench during Besiktas’ 1-0 win against FC Hradec Králové in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. He needed only a short time to make an impact, setting up Semih Kılıçsoy for the winning goal late in the match.
That performance could make Besiktas even more reluctant to lose him, especially with the club competing in Europe and preparing for a busy season.
However, there are signs that the Istanbul club are also planning for different possibilities. Besiktas have reportedly opened talks over Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie, who could arrive as a free agent.
At the moment, Ndidi’s future remains unclear. Al Diriyah’s expected second offer could test Besiktas’ resolve, while the Nigerian midfielder will have to continue focusing on his performances as the transfer battle develops.
