The Super Falcons will step onto a bigger stage than ever before when the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Morocco, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the tournament will receive unprecedented global television coverage, Footynaija.com reports.
Nigeria head into the competition as defending champions and the most successful nation in WAFCON history, having won a record 10 continental titles. This year’s edition is also expected to be the biggest yet, with the tournament expanding to 16 teams for the first time, increased prize money of $2 million for the winners and qualification places for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup also at stake.
For the Super Falcons, the latest announcement means their quest to defend the title will be watched by a far wider audience than in previous editions. Supporters in Nigeria will be able to follow the team’s matches on free-to-air television through AfroSport, while viewers across Africa, Europe and the Middle East will also have access to the tournament through an expanded list of broadcast partners.

According to CAF, long-term partner beIN Sports will televise every match across the Middle East and North Africa, while Channel 4 will broadcast the competition live in the United Kingdom for the first time. DAZN has also secured rights in Germany and neighbouring territories, with CANAL+, Ziggo, SABC, SNRT and AZAM Media among the broadcasters bringing the tournament to audiences across multiple regions.
A bigger audience means greater visibility for stars already playing in Europe and another opportunity for home-based talents to put themselves in front of clubs and scouts watching from different parts of the world.
It is equally important for supporters. AfroSport’s inclusion means many Nigerian fans will be able to watch the Super Falcons without needing a subscription service, continuing the broadcaster’s push to make major African football competitions more accessible on free-to-air television.
