Fiorentina’s interest in Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is beginning to make more sense as the Serie A club weighs up its options ahead of the new season, Footynaija.com reports.
According to reports from Italy, the Viola have identified the Nigerian as a realistic target, not because they are rushing into a deal, but because several factors have combined to make him an attractive option.
One of the biggest reasons is Chukwueze’s uncertain future. The 27-year-old is reportedly not expected to play a central role in AC Milan’s plans under new head coach Ruben Amorim, leaving the door open for interested clubs to make a move.

Fiorentina are understood to be exploring a loan deal with an option to buy. Such a move would allow the club to strengthen its attack without making a major financial commitment straight away, while also giving Chukwueze the chance to rebuild his value with regular football.
Although formal talks have not started, reports suggest the Nigerian international has already been added to Fiorentina’s shortlist, with club officials continuing to monitor the situation before deciding whether to make an approach.
Chukwueze’s experience in Serie A also works in his favour. After leaving Villarreal for AC Milan in 2023, he has already shown he can adapt to Italian football. Last season, while on loan at Fulham, he scored three goals and provided four assists in 23 Premier League appearances, showing flashes of the direct running and creativity that made him one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers at Villarreal.
For Fiorentina, the move is seen as a calculated opportunity rather than a gamble. If the financial terms become favourable later in the transfer window, the Super Eagles winger could emerge as one of the club’s most intriguing additions as they look to add pace, creativity and experience to their frontline.
