Como could become the next destination for Nigerian defender Tosin Adarabioyo after Crystal Palace ruled out a move for the Chelsea centre-back, Footynaija reports.
Italian transfer specialist Alfredo Pedullà reports that Como boss Cesc Fabregas has identified the 28-year-old as one of the defenders capable of improving his squad ahead of next season. The Serie A club are preparing for UEFA Champions League football after an impressive campaign and want to add more experience to their defence.
Tosin is not the club’s top transfer target, but he remains a strong option because Chelsea are willing to reshape their squad this summer. The former Fulham defender is under contract until 2028, and because he joined Chelsea on a free transfer, any transfer fee would be recorded as pure profit for the London club.
Como have also been trying to sign Trevoh Chalobah, but Chelsea rejected their first €25 million offer and are demanding more than €30 million. If negotiations fail, attention could quickly switch to Tosin.
The defender’s chances of joining Crystal Palace have already disappeared. Chelsea reportedly offered Palace the choice of Tosin, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi or Trevoh Chalobah as part of a deal to sign French defender Maxence Lacroix. However, Palace rejected the proposal, preferring a cash-only agreement while also focusing on Charlie Cresswell as another defensive target.
With Palace no longer interested, Como are now one of the clubs most likely to move for Tosin. A switch to Italy would also give the Super Eagles-eligible defender the chance to play regular football and feature in the Champions League if Chelsea decide to sell him before the new season.
