Victor Osimhen could soon be joined by another Nigerian at Galatasaray, with the Turkish champions stepping up their interest in Burnley midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, Footynaija.com reports.
According to reports, Galatasaray have submitted a loan offer that includes a mandatory purchase option for the 21 year old, who spent last season at Burnley. The Istanbul club are looking to strengthen their midfield as they continue building their squad ahead of the new season.
Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League, are understood to prefer a permanent transfer for Ugochukwu after signing him for around €28.7 million. The English club are now willing to listen to offers that would see the midfielder leave on a full transfer.
Should the move go through, Ugochukwu would become the latest Nigerian to link up with Osimhen at Galatasaray, adding more quality and depth to the club’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Although born in France, Ugochukwu is eligible to represent Nigeria through his family and has previously been linked with the Super Eagles. The powerful midfielder has also featured for France at youth level but remains a player closely followed by Nigerian football fans.
Galatasaray are expected to continue talks as they work to reach an agreement, with the proposed deal centred on an initial loan before becoming permanent under the agreed conditions.
For Osimhen, the transfer could mean welcoming another Nigerian into the dressing room as Galatasaray continue their busy summer in the transfer market.
