Former Nigeria U-20 international striker Muhamed Tijani has completed a move to Hungarian top-flight side Ujpest FC, Footynaija.com reports.

The 25-year-old forward arrives at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion after spending the second half of last season on loan at fellow Hungarian outfit Nyiregyhaza, where he enjoyed a prolific spell in front of goal.

Tijani scored eight goals and provided three assists in just 15 league appearances during the spring campaign, establishing himself as one of the most productive attackers in the NB I and attracting interest from clubs across the division.

Born in Nigeria, Tijani began his professional career with Czech club Banik Ostrava in 2019 before earning a move to Slavia Prague four years later.

After joining the Czech giants, he made 33 appearances and scored seven goals while also gaining experience during loan spells at English side Plymouth Argyle and Czech 1. Liga side Sigma Olomouc.

The powerful striker was also a member of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad that featured at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. Speaking after completing the transfer, Tijani shared his excitement about embarking on a new chapter with the Hungarian club.

“I’m very happy to be a player for Ujpest. I know the league, I know the traditions and ambitions of the club I have joined,” he said, per quotes on the club’s official website.

“I have high expectations for myself and the team, so I will work hard every day to achieve our goals together and bring a lot of joy to the fans.”

Coming off the back of a prolific campaign and entering what many consider the prime years of his career, Tijani will be expected to play a leading role in Ujpest’s attacking setup as the club aims to challenge higher up the Hungarian top-flight table next season.
