Fisayo Dele-Bashiru could be set for a dramatic return to Manchester after reports linked the Super Eagles star with a move to Manchester United this summer, Footynaija reports.
According to United Report, the Lazio midfielder has attracted interest from the Red Devils as they explore options to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new campaign. At 25, Dele-Bashiru is viewed as a player entering his prime years and one who could add energy, power and flexibility to United’s engine room.
What makes the story even more intriguing is that the Nigerian international spent much of his youth career across the city at Manchester City. Having joined City’s academy as a child, Dele-Bashiru developed through the ranks before leaving in 2020 without making a senior appearance due to intense competition for places.
His decision to seek opportunities elsewhere has since paid off. The midfielder moved to Sheffield Wednesday, where he gained valuable experience over three seasons, making 86 appearances and helping the club fight its way back from League One.
A bold switch to Turkish side Hatayspor in 2023 proved to be the breakthrough he needed. Dele-Bashiru produced eight goals and five assists in a standout campaign that quickly put him on the radar of clubs across Europe.
That form earned him a move to Lazio in 2024, where he has featured regularly in Serie A and continental competitions. Although often used as part of the club’s rotation options during the 2025/26 season, he still made 24 league appearances and impressed with his composure on the ball.
His club progress has also translated to the international stage, where he has become an important member of Nigeria’s Super Eagles setup.
With Lazio reportedly willing to listen to offers and his valuation believed to be around €18 million, Dele-Bashiru could represent a smart and affordable solution for a Manchester United side looking to reshape its midfield.
