Nigeria international Shukurat Oladipo has been named the Best Defender in the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile season, Footynaija reports.
The Super Falcons centre-back enjoyed a brilliant first full campaign with AS Roma Women, helping the Italian side win the league title while also earning a place in the Serie A Team of the Season.
Oladipo played 18 league games as Roma captured only the third Scudetto in the club’s history. Her performances quickly made her one of the key figures in the team’s backline, with the 21-year-old impressing fans and pundits through her aggressive defending, positional awareness and confidence on the ball.
Roma’s defensive numbers with the Super Falcons star on the pitch reveal her impact. The club conceded just nine goals in those matches, remained unbeaten throughout her appearances and kept eight clean sheets.
The Lagos-born defender’s journey has been remarkable. She started football in Mushin before making her breakthrough with FC Robo Queens in Nigeria. Interestingly, Oladipo began her career as an attacker before later switching to midfield and eventually becoming a central defender.
Her displays for Nigeria at youth level, including the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and African Games, prepared her for the move to Italy in 2025.
Oladipo could still end the season with another trophy when Roma face Juventus Women in the Coppa Italia final on May 24.
