Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has etched his name into Turkish football history after scoring in 10 consecutive league matches for Bursaspor, surpassing a record previously held by two legendary Turkish forwards, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian continued his remarkable scoring streak on Thursday, delivering a brace and an assist as Bursaspor defeated Muglaspor 3-0 in the Turkish First League.
According to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, Iheanacho’s latest goals took him beyond the nine-game scoring runs achieved by Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı, setting a new benchmark for consecutive league appearances with a goal in Turkish football.

Oktay achieved the feat while playing for Galatasaray during the 1962/63 season, while Sancaklı matched the milestone with Kocaelispor in the 1995/96 campaign.
Iheanacho has now moved ahead of both former strikers after finding the net in every league appearance since joining Bursaspor as a free agent in July.
The 29-year-old had already made club history before Thursday’s encounter, scoring in nine successive matches to surpass the previous Bursaspor record of eight consecutive scoring games set by Brazilian forward Fernandao during the 2014/15 season.
Iheanacho’s numbers have been equally impressive. He has registered 14 goals and three assists in 10 Turkish First League appearances this season, giving him 17 direct goal contributions since arriving in Turkey.

The forward has quickly become a central figure in Bursaspor’s attack, with his consistent finishing helping the club make an impact in the second tier.
Iheanacho’s goals have also played a significant role in Bursaspor’s push for promotion to the Turkish Super Lig. They sit second in the Turkish First League standings with 22 points from 10 matches, having recorded seven wins, one draw and two defeats.
With the top two teams earning automatic promotion at the end of the campaign, Bursaspor will be keen to maintain their position among the leading sides. Iheanacho’s remarkable scoring form gives them a major attacking weapon as they look to sustain their challenge for a return to Turkey’s top flight.
