Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has identified two English Premier League defenders as the toughest opponents he has faced in his professional career, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen has been an absolute nightmare for most defenders he’s squared up against in recent years, with the 27-year-old center forward racking up an impressive tally of 135 goals in 200 odd appearances over the last six years of his career which includes his time at Napoli..
This season alone, the masked hitman has notched 22 goals across 33 appearances in all competitions with his latest brace securing a fourth consecutive Super Lig triumph for Galatasaray over the weekend.

Despite his goal-scoring exploits, Osimhen has faced his fair share of tough defenders, especially when playing against some of the biggest teams from Europe’s top five leagues.
Fresh off winning his second Super Lig title in a row, the Nigeria international revealed in an interview with Riverthechamp that Super Eagles teammate and Fulham defender Calvin Bassey as well as Tottenham’s Cristian Romero have given him the hardest times on a football pitch.

“I’ll say Calvin Bassey. First of all, in training. That guy is very strong, really very strong. I think currently he’s actually the best defender in Africa and of course one of the best defenders in the Premier League”, Osimhen said.

“Also, Romero of Spurs – he’s actually a very intelligent defender. He gave me a hard time when we met. I think I’ve faced a couple of world class defenders, but I think the hardest is those two that I mentioned when I talk about the very best I’ve played with.”

With the Super Lig title wrapped up and the season almost done, attention will likely turn to Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray. The Nigerian striker is attracting plenty of interest from Europe’s biggest teams but the Super Lig giants have shown no indication that they’ll be willing to let him go.
