Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is a major doubt for Nottingham Forest’s UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg clash with Aston Villa after missing Wednesday’s training session due to fitness issues, Footynaija.com reports.
Aina sustained an injury in the 75th minute of the first semi-final encounter at The City Ground last week, with Zack Abbot replacing him as Nottingham Forest secured a crucial 1-0 advantage in front of their home fans.
As a result of that injury setback, the Nigeria international also missed out on the action as the Tricky Trees put Chelsea to the sword in convincing fashion on Monday, winning 3-1 at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a brace from compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi.

Nottingham Forest now travel to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s side in a decisive second leg encounter on Thursday but it appears that they will have to make do without Aina, who has been one of their most important players in the competition since the turn of the year.
According to recent reports from Sky Sports, Aina was absent as Vitor Pereira’s side finalized preparations for tomorrow’s clash, throwing his participation in the actual contest into serious doubt.
Alongside Aina, there were also other notable absentees from today’s training session with the likes of Ibrahima Sangare, Dan Ndoye and captain Morgan Rogers, who suffered an unsightly head injury in the victory over Chelsea also missing.

While these players did not take part in team preparations earlier today, it is important to note that none of them have been definitively ruled out of Thursday’s game. Pereira will likely make his final decision after some late assessments.
