Werder Bremen have received a huge boost in the defensive department as versatile Super Eagles left-back Felix Agu rejoined training on Wednesday, Footynaija.com reports.
Agu has endured a stop-start campaign, with injuries limiting his involvement and keeping him on the treatment table for extended spells.
The defender has struggled with a series of setbacks this season, including ankle and adductor problems, before a recent muscle issue ruled him out of Werder Bremen’s last three matches.

His absences have had significant ramifications, with the club hovering just above the drop zone in 15th. However, Bremen require only a single point from their remaining two fixtures to mathematically confirm their Bundesliga status.
Attention now turns to this weekend’s trip to the PreZero Arena, where Bremen face Hoffenheim in a clash with plenty at stake at both ends of the table.
The hosts, currently sixth, remain firmly in the hunt for a Champions League place, while Werder will be eager to upset the odds and seal their survival in the process.
Providing an update ahead of the encounter, Thioune confirmed that the Super Eagles defender has resumed training, although his availability for matchday remains uncertain.

”Felix is taking part in training today on a partial basis. I’m optimistic that by the end of the week, we’ll have another player available to us again,” Thioune said, per quotes revealed by Deichstube.
Agu’s availability for the upcoming game would certainly be a massive boost for Daniel Thioune and Werder Bremen but the club will be wary about rushing the Nigerian’s return to competitive action given his worrying injury record this season.
