Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme has urged his Trabzonspor teammates to focus on returning to winning ways in the Super Lig after dropping points in their last couple of outings, Footynaija.com reports.
Trabzonspor settled for a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Istanbul rivals Basaksehir over the weekend, failing to collect maximum points for the second time in two weeks after also playing a 1-1 draw with Alanyaspor on matchday 29.
Those results have now seen Trabzonspor fall behind in the race for this season’s Super Lig crown, with reigning champions and current leaders Galatasaray moving four points clear after their win over Genclerbirligi.
Speaking in a recent interview, Nwakaeme, who featured in both games aired his frustrations with the results but also emphasized the need to quickly move on from them and focus on the remaining games of the season.

“Losing 4 points in 2 weeks is certainly not a good situation,” Nwakaeme said as per Fotomac. “In this particular match, both we and the fans tried to give our all.
“It’s a very sad situation. It’s not good for us, but these things happen in football. We need to look ahead and focus on the Samsunspor match and continue on our way.
“We need to evaluate each match individually. Of course we want to win every game, and we wanted to win today as well, but this match is over now. We need to move on.
“We’re trying to get three points from every match we play. What we need to do now is take it one match at a time. We’ll leave today in the past and focus on the remaining matches. We can do four out of four, but it won’t be easy. We’ll evaluate each match individually and focus on the next one.”
Trabzonspor’s next chance to return to winning ways will come on Thursday when they face Samsunspor in the quarter-final of the Turkish Cup.
