Alhassan Yusuf has been rewarded for his growing influence at New England Revolution after being named in the Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Matchday 7, Footynaija reports.

The Super Eagles midfielder delivered a decisive contribution in his side’s 1-0 victory over D.C. United, scoring the only goal of the game to maintain the Revolution’s perfect record at home this season. It was a composed finish in the 35th minute, arriving at the end of a well-worked move involving Dor Turgeman and Will Sands, and it ultimately proved the difference on a tightly contested night.

That performance has now earned Yusuf a place among the standout performers across the league for the round. The Revolution’s win also brought a second consecutive clean sheet, pointing to a team beginning to find balance between defensive organisation and attacking threat.

Assistant coach Michael Morris was quick to highlight Yusuf’s all-round impact after the match.

“Yusuf was amazing today in my opinion,” Morris said. “Yusuf is a fantastic guy, and every single moment that I’ve been able to work with him, I’ve come to appreciate him that much more day in and day out.

“He has definitely put himself in a position where he’s very integral to what we want to do in terms of in possession, out of possession, and in the multiple positions that he’s been able to adapt to and play in so far.”

Yusuf’s latest goal also reflects a notable evolution in his role. Previously deployed in a deeper, more defensive position, he is now being encouraged to support attacks more frequently, a change he believes naturally explains his improved numbers.

“I was in kind of a more defensive role before. But then, of course, the role that I’m playing now, I have to be in the box and then finish the attack. So yeah, I’m not surprised by the goals that I’ve scored,” he explained.

With two goals already this season, Yusuf is now among the club’s leading scorers, alongside Peyton Miller and Brayan Ceballos. It is a sharp improvement from the previous campaign, matching his entire tally in just a handful of matches.

Under head coach Marko Mitrović, the Revolution are showing early signs of promise, combining attacking efficiency with defensive discipline. Yusuf’s development is central to that progress, offering both structure in midfield and an increasing goal threat.

Attention now shifts to their upcoming U.S. Open Cup fixture against Rhode Island FC, where the Revolution will look to carry their strong league form into knockout competition.
