Alex Iwobi has admitted he was at fault after being sent off in Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw with Jordan, offering a clear and heartfelt apology following the late incident, Footynaija reports.

The Super Eagles midfielder was shown a red card in the closing stages after reacting angrily to being pulled back by Amer Jamous during the match in Turkey. His response left Nigeria a man down at a crucial moment, and he has since accepted responsibility.

Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, Iwobi did not shy away from the moment.

“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off,” he said.

Known for his calm presence and technical intelligence in midfield, moments like this are rare in his international career. Since making his debut in 2015, he has become a key figure for Nigeria, often adapting to different roles to support the team.

The former Arsenal man will likely make his 100th appearance for Nigeria this summer with the Super Eagles scheduled to face Iran, Jamaica, Poland and Portugal in friendlies.
