Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was once again the star performer as Brighton & Hove Albion Women played out a 0-0 draw with Liverpool Women in the Women’s Super League, Footynaija reports.
The match, played at Broadfield Stadium, was not full of goals, but it was still full of effort from both sides. Brighton came into the game hoping to stop a run of three straight defeats, while Liverpool wanted to build on their recent win over Leicester City.
Brighton started the match brightly and controlled much of the first half. Players like Rosa Kafaji and Jelena Cankovic tried to break through Liverpool’s defence, but they could not find the finishing touch. Liverpool also stayed organised at the back, making sure the home side did not score.
In the second half, both teams pushed forward, searching for a winning goal. Brighton made changes in the 62nd minute, bringing on fresh legs to increase their attacking energy. However, despite their efforts, neither side could find the net.
That is where Nnadozie made the difference. The Nigerian goalkeeper stayed alert throughout the game, making key saves and showing strong command of her penalty area. Her calm presence helped Brighton secure a clean sheet, her fifth of the season.
This result means Brighton now sit in eighth place with 18 points, while Liverpool remain in tenth with 14 points. More importantly, Brighton have stopped their losing run, thanks in large part to their reliable goalkeeper.
Nnadozie’s latest performance also places her among the top goalkeepers in the league this season. She is now joint third for clean sheets, just behind Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Hannah Hampton, who have six and seven respectively.
