Former Atletico Madrid striker Raul Garcia has commended Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman for his immediate impact at the Wanda Metropolitano following his winter transfer from Serie A outfit Atalanta, Footynaija.com reports.
Lookman enjoyed a dream start to his Atletico Madrid career as he delivered an eye-catching debut display that saw him register a goal and an assist as Los Colchoneros ran riot in a 5-0 Copa del Rey first leg victory over Real Betis at the Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla.
Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as a key figure for Diego Simeone’s side, making 13 appearances across all competitions and featuring as part of the starting XI in ten of those outings.

In terms of output, the Nigeria international has also done a pretty decent job of delivering the goods for his new team. So far, Lookman has produced seven goal contributions (4 goals and three assists) with his strikes coming against the likes of Real Betis, Barcelona, Club Brugge and Espanyol.
Assessing the Nigerian’s early weeks in the Spanish capital, Garcia, who scored 45 goals and won the La Liga during his time at Atletico Madrid described Lookman as a world-class player, insisting that his impact on the team hasn’t been surprising.

“He’s hit the ground running. It’s not easy to break into the team like he has. I think he’s a world-class player,” he said via Europa Press. “I’m not surprised by what he’s doing.”
Next up in La Liga, Atletico Madrid face a stern test against city rivals Real Madrid with both sides looking to continue their winning momentum in the Spanish top flight. Lookman will be one of Los Colchoneros’ go-to men for their short trip to the Santiago Bernabeu as they aim to do a domestic double over Alvaro Arbeloa’s charges.
