Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has backed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to play a decisive role for Galatasaray ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash at Anfield, Footynaija.com reports.
Galatasaray make the trip to Merseyside buoyed by an impressive run of five consecutive victories across all competitions including a crucial 1-0 triumph over the Reds in the first leg of this particular tie at RAMS Park.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been plagued by inconsistencies all season, with their recent record of two wins, two defeats and one draw from their last five outings across all competitions telling a story of its own.

Osimhen played a crucial role in last week’s victory as he supplied the assist for Mario Lemina’s match-winner with a clever flick on. He also found the back of the net but saw his effort ruled out for offside.
Reflecting on the recent performances of his former club, Nicol who played over 450 games and won four league titles at Merseyside, poured cold water over talks of a certain turnaround by the Reds on Wednesday.

“Liverpool have just capitulated against right now, the worst in the Premier League,” the 64-year-old said on the ESPN show.
“And they are 1-nil behind Galatasaray, who have a guy upfront in Osimhen, who can win any game on his own with a simple piece of magic and brilliance.
“How Liverpool can be such a big favourite after what we saw at the weekend, I don’t get.”

For Osimhen and Galatasaray, Wednesday’s assignment is clear; avoid defeat at Anfield and reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-final for the first time in 13 years.
