France Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo has indicated a willingness to consider Thierry Henry as a potential successor to Didier Deschamps as the national team’s head coach, Soccernet.football reports.

This comes as Henry has been making waves at the Paris 2024 Olympics, leading France to the final against Spain.

Under Henry’s leadership, Les Bleus have been the standout team in the tournament, securing a spot in the final and guaranteeing themselves a medal.

France dominated the group stage, winning all three of their matches before defeating Argentina and Egypt in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.

Henry’s successful run at the Olympics has brought him into the spotlight, prompting questions about his future in management.

When asked about Henry’s prospects, Diallo urged caution but acknowledged the former striker’s achievements.

Speaking to RMCSport, the FFF president said: “Let’s not rush things. Thierry Henry, when I appointed him to this position, there were some who had doubts given what he had done previously.

“I had confidence in him and he is proving it. We still have one more gold medal to go for.

“There is still this step to take and then next year, there will be the Euro Espoirs 2025.

“There will be this new challenge to take up, each of the steps must be taken before talking about anything else.”

Should Henry lead France to Olympic gold, he would be in a strong position for consideration when the time comes for Deschamps to step down.

The 46-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as an assistant coach for Belgium and managed both Monaco and Montreal Impact.
