Club Brugge have again rejected approaches from Galatasaray for Nigeria midfielder Raphael Onyedika, as they remain determined to keep one of their most important players through the January transfer window, footynaija.com reports.

The Belgian champions, according to local reports, are unwilling to negotiate a mid-season sale unless an extraordinary offer arrives, even though they are not opposed in principle to cashing in at the right price.

Onyedika’s contract runs until 2027, which leaves Brugge in a strong position, but the balance could shift in the summer if the player shows no desire to extend his stay.

Since arriving from FC Midtjylland in 2022, the 24-year-old has become a cornerstone of Brugge’s midfield, making 165 appearances and winning both the league and cup. His consistency and tactical discipline have also made him a regular target for clubs looking to strengthen in central areas.

Galatasaray’s interest is being publicly encouraged by Victor Osimhen, who has admitted he has spoken to both Onyedika and Ademola Lookman about a move to Istanbul.

Speaking after a Champions League draw, Osimhen said: “I spoke with Onyedika during the Africa Cup of Nations. I also spoke with Lookman during the matches we played for the World Cup. I told them about the Galatasaray fans, how big a club we are, and the beauty of the country. They are adults. They will make their own decisions.”

He added: “Their arrival would be good for our club, our players, and our fans. Onyedika is a very good player. He plays very fluently. If he comes here, he will contribute a lot to us. He is a very talented player. I am trying to convince both of them. I would like them to come to one of the biggest clubs in the world and play with us.”

For now, Brugge’s stance suggests Galatasaray may have to wait until the end of the season to test their resolve again.
