Victor Osimhen has joined the Super Eagles’ training camp in Cairo, completing Nigeria’s squad ahead of their departure to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
The Galatasaray striker arrived on Wednesday night at the Renaissance Hotel, a day after Nigeria’s 2–1 friendly defeat to Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium.
Osimhen had initially planned to link up with the squad in Morocco but adjusted his schedule to report earlier in Cairo.
His arrival means head coach Éric Chelle now has all 28 invited players available as the Super Eagles prepare to fly to Fès on Thursday aboard a chartered flight arranged by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Osimhen was absent from Tuesday’s friendly, where Nigeria struggled to convert chances against a well-organised Egyptian side. The match formed part of Nigeria’s final preparations following the opening of camp on Sunday.
Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, who arrived earlier on Wednesday, took part in the morning training session, while Osimhen was expected to feature in the evening workout.
Nigeria’s squad includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie, defenders Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and Bright Osayi-Samuel, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi, and attackers Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu and Osimhen.
The Super Eagles will compete in Group C at AFCON 2025, facing Tanzania on December 23, Tunisia on December 27 and Uganda on December 30. Chelle will be hoping to guide Nigeria to a strong showing as they chase a fourth continental title.
