Super Eagles fans in the UK will be able to watch all of Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 matches for free, as Channel 4 secures exclusive rights to broadcast the tournament without a paywall, Footynaija.com reports.
AFCON 2025 begins on 21 December in Morocco and runs until 18 January. Nigeria will compete in Group C, with matches scheduled against Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania.
Preparations for the tournament are already underway, with the Super Eagles set to open camp in Cairo on 10 December before a planned warm-up fixture against Egypt on 14 December. The team will then move to Morocco ahead of the group stage.
Head coach Eric Chelle has submitted a 55-man provisional list for the competition. The squad includes established regulars like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, as well as a number of home-based players who have impressed across domestic and continental games this year. The list is expected to be trimmed before the final group departs for Morocco.
As confirmed in a report by New York Times, Channel 4’s new deal is a major shift from the last edition. Sky Sports held the main broadcast rights for AFCON 2023, with a smaller arrangement involving the BBC, which meant that many matches were placed behind a paywall. Channel 4’s takeover now opens the door for wider access across the United Kingdom.
Fans of Fulham’s Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, Crystal Palace’s Christantus Uche, and others in the UK will be able to follow every Super Eagles match live without any subscription barrier.
