A Nigerian football fan, Oluwatosin Nathan, has received free match tickets for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a social media post comparing travel costs unexpectedly caught the attention of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Footynaija.com reports.
Nathan, a graduate of the University of Lagos and an alumnus of EDHEC Business School, is currently based in France. His professional career spans roles at Google, Amazon, Guinness, KPMG and PwC.
On X (formerly Twitter), he calculated the cost of travelling with his wife to Morocco for eight days, including three AFCON matches and a rental car, and compared it with a single flight to Nigeria in December.
He wrote: “I just did the math. What it will cost my wife and I to fly to Morocco, stay 8 days, watch three AFCON games and rent a car for the period. Is cheaper than one person’s flight to Nigeria in December.”
We hear you, and you can redo the math now

CAF then responded with an unexpected gesture, replying via its official account:
“We hear you, and you can redo the math now. Your match tickets for you and your wife are on us. Looking forward to seeing you at #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025 in Morocco.”
The offer means Nathan and his wife will now attend several matches at no cost, adding to their growing excitement ahead of the tournament.
This is amazing. Thank you so much ❤️ ❤️@CAF_Online

For Nigeria, the 2025 AFCON comes with heightened expectations following the disappointment of missing the 2026 World Cup.
Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to name up to 27 players for Morocco, though injuries and absences, including Benjamin Fredrick, have already shaped early preparations.
The tournament runs from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
