Nigerian forward David Akintola finally opened his Hull City account in spectacular fashion, netting the only goal in a 1–0 win over Sheffield United at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward, who had endured a frustrating wait for his first goal since arriving in the summer, broke the deadlock on 30 minutes with a thunderous volley after the Blades failed to clear Lewie Coyle’s cross.
Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur was equally crucial to the result, producing a remarkable 88th-minute penalty save from Harrison Burrows to secure all three points for the Tigers. Akintola, 28, was substituted in the 62nd minute to a warm reception from home fans.
