West Ham United are preparing to reignite their pursuit of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika in the January transfer window after failing to land him in the summer, Footynaija.com understands.

Onyedika has been on the Hammers’ radar for some time, with initial talks held earlier in the summer. Negotiations stalled, however, when Belgian giants Club Brugge demanded a fee of around €40 million, a figure that deterred West Ham and other suitors.

The Nigeria international also attracted interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan, Juventus and Turkish side Fenerbahce, though neither club was willing to meet Brugge’s valuation.

According to a fresh report from Footy-Africa, West Ham remain determined to return with another bid and believe a €25 million offer could persuade the Belgian outfit to do business midway through the season.

While the midfielder is said to be fully focused on Club Brugge, he is not expected to block a potential move should the two clubs reach an agreement. Onyedika’s representatives, CAA Steller, are understood to be open to revisiting discussions if West Ham firm up their interest.

The Super Eagles star has become a key figure at Brugge since joining from Midtjylland in 2022. He has already amassed more than 150 appearances for the Belgian champions, including 52 last season across domestic and European competitions.

With Onyedika’s contract at Brugge running until the summer of 2027, West Ham will have to convince the Belgian club to cash in this coming January.

Their revived pursuit signals Graham Potter’s determination to add steel and stability to his midfield following a disappointing start to the season that has seen them lose three of their first four games in the Premier League.
