West Ham United have revived their pursuit of Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika, with Edson Álvarez expected to leave for Fenerbahçe before the close of the transfer window, Footynaija.com reports.

Speaking ahead of the Hammers’ Premier League meeting with Chelsea, manager Graham Potter admitted Álvarez’s future remains unresolved but stressed the importance of players weighing their game time against what benefits both them and the club.

Onyedika, previously on the radar of Juventus, has become a mainstay at Club Brugge since joining from FC Midtjylland in 2022. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has made 149 appearances in all competitions, contributing six goals and four assists while establishing himself as one of the Belgian side’s most reliable performers.

Transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that West Ham have reactivated their interest as they seek midfield reinforcements, with Onyedika understood to be open to a Premier League move.

The Nigerian, who scored his first international goal in Super Eagles’ 2-1 loss to Benin in a World Cup qualifier last year, views a switch to England as an opportunity to test himself on a bigger stage.

Club Brugge have set a €20m asking price for the Super Eagles star, while Midtjylland are entitled to 20 percent of any profit above the €9.5m Brugge originally paid for him. With only 10 days left before the window closes, West Ham are expected to accelerate negotiations in the coming days.

West Ham remain hopeful of finalising a deal to bring former AC Milan target Onyedika to the London Stadium.
