In the aftermath of Jadon Sancho’s stellar performance in Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League triumph over PSG, Piers Morgan has once again directed his criticism towards Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, Soccernet.football reports.

Morgan has persistently scrutinized Ten Hag, harking back to his contentious encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022. In that memorable interview, Ronaldo accused the Dutch manager of lacking respect and attempting to push him out of the club.

Following the termination of Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent, the Portuguese star ventured to the Saudi Pro League, where he has since excelled, netting an impressive 52 goals in just 58 appearances.

Jadon Sancho also found himself at odds with Ten Hag, publicly accusing him of dishonesty after being omitted from a match against Arsenal, purportedly due to his performance in training. This discord led to Sancho’s exclusion from the squad and his subsequent loan return to Borussia Dortmund in January. The winger appears to have rediscovered his form, notably shining in Dortmund’s recent 1-0 Champions League semi-final victory over PSG.

Sancho’s remarkable feat of completing the most dribbles by an Englishman in Champions League history (12) garnered attention, with the last player to surpass this tally in a semi-final being Lionel Messi in 2008. Reacting to Sancho’s resurgence, Morgan took to social media to lambaste Ten Hag, questioning his managerial acumen in handling star players.

“The fact that Ronaldo and now Sancho are playing brilliantly away from United, and Rashford is struggling while still with them, suggests the real problem at the club isn’t ‘difficult’ world class players but a manager who doesn’t know how to handle them,” Morgan wrote.

Sancho’s future remains uncertain, but former Scotland striker Ally McCoist believes the forward has regained his spark at Dortmund. Speaking to TNT Sports, McCoist remarked,
“Sancho looks like a different player entirely.
“His body language is like the player Man Utd bought. You can tell a lot from body language and he wants to take people on and play. He certainly looks rejuvenated. It is confidence, he has his mojo back. He is in an environment where he is liked and he looks like a different footballer.”

Sancho’s statistics further underscore his impact, with three goals and two assists in 17 appearances across the Bundesliga and Champions League for Dortmund this season.

Last season, during his stint at Manchester United, he notched six goals and provided three assists in 26 Premier League outings, following his €85 million move to the Red Devils in 2021.
