Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Norway in Group F of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, following Friday’s official draw held in Santiago, Chile, Footynaija.com reports.

Placed in Pot 2 for the draw, Nigeria now face a challenging but familiar path to the Round of 16, with only the top two teams guaranteed progression. The tournament is set to take place across four Chilean cities between 27 September and 19 October 2025.

This year marks a poignant return to Saudi Arabian opposition for Nigeria at this level.

The two sides last met at the 1989 U-20 World Cup, when Nigeria defeated hosts Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the opening match. That same tournament would go on to become legendary for Nigerian fans, thanks to the “Dammam Miracle” — a dramatic quarter-final comeback from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 against the Soviet Union before sealing victory on penalties.

Colombia and Norway round out the group, both nations known for producing technically sharp and physically demanding teams, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive group stage.

Nigeria, two-time runners-up in 1989 and 2005, secured their place at this year’s finals after finishing third at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

They will be joined by fellow African sides South Africa, Morocco and Egypt as the continent bids for glory in Chile.

The Flying Eagles will now turn their focus to preparing for what promises to be another historic campaign on the world stage.

FULL GROUP STAGE DRAW

Group A: Chile, New Zealand, Japan, Egypt.

Group B: Korea Republic, Ukraine, Paraguay, Panama.

Group C: Brazil, Mexico, Morocco, Spain.

Group D: Italy, Australia, Cuba, Argentina.

Group E: USA, New Caledonia, France, South Africa.

Group F: Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Nigeria
