2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has confirmed his departure from Nigeria Professional Football League juggernauts Enyimba after a brief stint, Footynaija.com reports.
In a move that caught many by surprise, Ideye announced that he would be joining the former NPFL champions for the remainder of the season back in December 2024. During his time with The People’s Elephant, Ideye notched 5 goals in 13 appearances.
Unfortunately, despite his addition, the struggling giants continued to endure a difficult campaign as they suffered a group stage exit in the CAF Confederation Cup and finished in sixth position as Remo Stars secured a first ever triumph.

“To the Chairman, Staff, my teammates and fans of Enyimba FC thank you for the wonderful journey,” the former West Bromwich Albion man posted on his X account.
“It’s been an honour to wear the jersey and play for one of the biggest and best football club in Nigeria and Africa.
“As I move on, I’m grateful for the fond memories we created together on and off the pitch, and I appreciate the love, respect and support you all gave me from day one.
“This club will always have a great place in my heart. With Love and Appreciation.”
Whether Ideye will call time on a career that has taken him to ten different clubs across Europe and Asia or join another team ahead of the 2025/2026 season remains uncertain.
