Nigeria striker Sadiq Umar has named his time at Almeria as the most cherished moment of his career — despite having played for some of Europe’s notable clubs including Roma, Rangers, and Real Sociedad, Footynaija.com reports.
The 28-year-old Super Eagles forward has had a globetrotting career, turning out for at least 12 clubs across five countries — Italy, the Netherlands, Scotland, Serbia, and Spain.
Among his most recognisable stints were spells at Serie A giants AS Roma, Scottish side Glasgow Rangers, Serbian powerhouse Partizan Belgrade, and most recently, Real Sociedad in La Liga.

However, Sadiq holds a special place in his heart for Almeria, where he enjoyed a prolific two-year spell in Spain’s Segunda Division between 2020 and 2022.
The Nigerian scored 43 goals and registered 13 assists in 84 appearances across all competitions, playing a crucial role in helping the club secure promotion to La Liga in 2022.
While fans of Partizan and Spezia still hold fond memories of his performances, Sadiq says no experience has matched the emotional and professional high he achieved at Almeria.
“All these clubs, some I have good memories, some I have bad memories,” Sadiq told TVC News. “If I gather everything together, I put it as a good experience for me. The good ones and the bad ones helped me to grow.
“But I would say my real top was at Almeria where I was able to score and show what I’m capable of. Then I moved to Real Sociedad where injury did not let me (do well). Now I’m here (at Valencia) but I will say Almeria.”
Sadiq is currently on loan at Valencia from Real Sociedad, with an option for a permanent deal at the end of the season.
