Brighton & Hove Albion have provided a fitness update on Super Eagles forward Femi Azeez ahead of their Premier League meeting with Sunderland, with the summer signing facing a late decision over his availability, Footynaija.com reports.
Azeez has yet to make his competitive debut for the Seagulls after arriving from Millwall on transfer deadline day with a hamstring injury that has disrupted the early stages of his season.
The 25-year-old made progress during the recent international break, featuring in a behind-closed-doors friendly as he worked towards full fitness. However, Brighton have confirmed that minor issues mean his availability for the Sunderland fixture remains uncertain.

The club’s update offers some encouragement after weeks on the sidelines, although Azeez must still prove he is ready to return to competitive action.
His delayed debut has also prevented him from building on the form that made him one of the Championship’s standout attackers last season.
Azeez scored 11 goals and provided seven assists for Millwall as they reached the Championship play-off semi-finals, earning a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Season before securing a move worth more than £15 million to Brighton.

The Nigerian had hoped to make an immediate impression in the Premier League, but his recovery has forced him to wait for an opportunity to show what he can offer Fabian Hürzeler’s side.
Brighton have made an encouraging start to the campaign, meaning Azeez could also face competition for attacking minutes once he is fully fit.
For now, the immediate focus is on whether the winger can overcome his latest fitness concerns and feature against Sunderland. If he is cleared to return, Azeez will have the chance to begin his Brighton career and build momentum towards a regular role at the Amex Stadium.
